A Symbol of Hope, A Symbol of Steadfastness. The anchor is symbolic of hope in how when lifted up from the water of a port, it represents a new adventure, a new voyage. For many, this metaphor is symbolic of our feelings when they leave a stagnant part of their life and set sail on a new journey.⠀

An Anchor is raised when we enter a new era just as when a ship sets sail. We are alive and eager with excitement and hope for what is to come. It encourages us to follow the plotted course and carry on with our plans, to stay steadfast with our vision of the new dreams we have ahead of us.⠀

This is a fouled anchor. The symbol and rank insignia for The Navy Chief Petty Officer around the world. Almost all the Navies of the world use the steadfastness of The Chief as the backbone of their crew. The Chief is the anchor of the Navy.

This is a limited edition print! Created using the traditional printmaking technique of drypoint with Chine Cole (the red colour in the print is created by applying red Japanese paper to the inked plate) A little bit of white chalk is then used to add some highlights to the red.

Image area is 5" x 7" and the print comes matted for a standard frame size of 8" x 10".  Each print is signed by the artist and numbered in an edition of only 15.

Set of 3 drypoint prints, an anchor, Compass and a sail boat by Kristine MacGregor
